Established in 1944, the South Shore Community Center is located at 3 North Main Street in what was formerly the Elisha Doane House, built in 1750 and a true reflection of the New England charm that defines Cohasset Village. Over the years the Center has been renovated to include a state of the art gymnasium and fully accredited Nursery School complete with observation mirrors for parents and an enclosed playground.
During the day, the Center is a busy place. In addition to the children attending preschool there are gymnastics and sports classes ongoing throughout the day for children of all ages. A bowling alley downstairs adds to the fun! For children there are dance classes, computer classes, cooking, music and art, and birthday parties available throughout the year, with special holiday events as well. Adult Evening programs include cooking, CPR and Health and Wellness Seminars.
The South Shore Community Center is a non-profit organization which serves not only the residents of Cohasset, but is open to anyone who wishes to join. Programs are offered at a discounted rate for members, but non-members may participate as well. The South Shore Community Center is dedicated to serving Cohasset and surrounding communities by providing a welcoming environment for social, educational and recreational pursuits for all.
